Can
stucco be painted?
Yes,
I often say that stucco is like a sponge it’s so
porous that it holds paint better than any surface on
the entire exterior of your home. Remember just about
any surface can be painted if you use the right materials.
There are several coatings that can be used on stucco
but a 100% acrylic is usually the best. We’ve painted
hundreds of stucco homes and would be glad to give you
many addresses of buildings that we’ve done in
the past.
Why
shouldn't I paint it myself? It's only painting.
You’re
right; it’s not brain surgery after all. But do
you really want to spend all weekend painting 1 room
only to find you have 3 bedrooms, 2 ½ bathrooms,
living room, dining room, etc.. more to go. Do you like
climbing 20-foot ladders? Do you know the difference
between oil and latex based paints? Do you know the difference
between a regular primer and a sealing primer? Did you
know you can paint oil over water but not water over
oil? There’s a little more to it than many people
think. I can’t tell you how many jobs we’ve
done that the homeowner started and couldn’t or
didn’t want to finish. And boy have we fixed some
big mistakes.
Why
shouldn't i hire the guy that gave me the cheapest
bid?
Well
first; did you read the stuff above? But how much will
that cheap paint job cost if one of his “employees” falls
of a ladder and gets hurt? How much will that cheap paint
job cost if the painters ruin your carpet, cabinets, sofa, etc… and
can’t pay to replace them? With that said if you
compare apples to apples you’d find that we are
very competitive even with all that we have to offer.
Cost of hiring a professional painter to do it right
the first time – PRICLESS!
If
my contractor is licensed he must have morken's compensation,
right?
Not
necessarily. In California, if a contractor has employees,
they're required to carry workers' compensation insurance.
Some contractors get around this by claiming exempt.
Meaning they have no employees. Yet they say they’re
going to paint the entire exterior or interior of your
home in 2-3 days - By themselves, yeah right. The importance
of this insurance cannot be overstated. If a painter is
injured working on your property and the contractor doesn't
have insurance, you could be liable to pay for injuries
and rehabilitation. Your homeowner's insurance may or
may not cover those costs. Ouch again! Ask to see a copy
of his certificate of insurance.
If
my contractor is licensed he must have liability
insurance, right?
Not
necessarily. Believe it or not law does not require
liability insurance, however, it covers damage to your
property in the event your painter goofs up. If
your painter damages your property and doesn't carry
commercial general liability insurance, you or your
homeowner insurance policy could end up paying for
damages. Ouch! Ask to see a copy of his certificate
of insurance.
Is
it important that my paint contractor be licensed?
Yes,
Did you know that if your painter is not licensed
and there’s a problem at your home with the job
you have very little recourse? It’s your responsibility
to check the license status. Contractors must have their
license number on all their advertising, business cards,
proposals etc… You can check license status at
- www.cslb.ca.gov
Can
you give me a price over the phone?
If
I or any other paint contractor gives you a price over
the phone it’s just a guess. Many people think
we have a set square foot price but most painters
don’t. There are too many variables; how much preparation
do the items to be painted need, what type of texture
is the surface, do we need to cover furniture and flooring,
are there any repairs, what color is it now and do you
want to change color, is it water base or oil base, etc…?
That’s just a start. So you see, although I would
love to be able to give you an accurate quote over the
phone – all the gas I would save – it’s
just too difficult. For an exact price that isn't going
to change half way through your job it’s very important
to have us come to your home for an evaluation.
By the way, did I mention all evaluations are
free of charge?
Do
you give a warranty?
Yes,
one of the best in the business. 10 years on labor and
material. Not many paint supply companies give their
paint contractors a warranty but ours does. They know
we offer our clients’ quality workmanship and unsurpassed
expertise so they have offered us a 10-year warranty
on all our paints that we pass on to our clients. We’ve
been in business for over 20 years, which is important
for several reasons. We’ve seen it all and we’ll
be here to honor our 10-year warranty. |
